4. Bank of Korea: Success Of Blockchain Tech Driving Banks Toward Digital Currencies
South Korea's central bank, the Bank of Korea, has conducted new research and analysis on the progress of central bank digital currencies or CBDCs around the world. The bank released its “Overseas CBDC Progress Report” in which the institution analyzed the CBDC projects of 14 central banks. 5. Tuur Demeester: Bitcoin Accumulation By Institutions Will Push Price Above $50K
Bitcoin investor and research analyst Tuur Demeester doesn’t see the coin going below $6,000 after the rewards halving. He assured that the Bitcoin (BTC) was “back in a bull market” following the halving. Demeester told, institutions are already interested in Bitcoin and believes that if these institutions and whales are able to accumulate enough, it will “likely ignite another parabolic rally” in the price of BTC. 6. You Can Now Buy Tezos From 10,000 Stores in France
French consumers can now buy Tezos from 10,000 mini-marts, tobacco stores and gas stations using prepaid coupons or cards. French crypto startup Digycode has introduced support for Tezos (XTZ) purchases through its prepaid vouchers and gift cards. The integration is the product of a partnership between Digycode and the research and development team from Nomadic Labs which contribute to maintaining Tezos’s core code. New report shows that African countries have some of the highest crypto ownership rates worldwide. South Africa ranked third throughout the world with 13% of its internet users owning or using cryptocurrencies. Nigeria took the fifth spot with 11% of internet users owning crypto. The worldwide average for the same stands at 7%. 9. Shopify Merchants Now Get Paid in Cryptocurrencies
Shopify debuts a cryptocurrency payment option powered by CoinPayments after successfully conducting a trial. Canadian e-commerce giant Shopify, the second most valuable company on the country’s stock market, recently announced a partnership with cryptocurrency payment processor CoinPayments. As part of the deal, the Shopify platform will include a payment option with CoinPayments for all of its merchants.
