1. Binance launches Cryptocurrency Payments App Bundle in Nigeria
Crypto exchange Binance has rolled out a new social payments app called Bundle. Targeted at the African market, the app allows users to send and receive cash, as well as buy, sell and store cryptocurrencies. At launch, the supported fiat currency is Nigeria naira (NGN), and the supported cryptocurrencies are bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH) and Binance coin (BNB). 2. Bitcoin Messenger Explores Censorship Resistance with Built-In Payments
A new bitcoin privacy technology was born this week, using the Lightning Network. Software engineer John Cantrell released a messenger application called Juggernaut. It’s built entirely on top of bitcoin’s scaling layer, the Lightning Network, and offers end-to-end encrypted, onion-routed, peer-to-peer messages with built-in payments. This messaging app doesn’t rely on a commercial server. 3. Bitcoin Demand in Argentina Soars To All time High
According to a recent report, the South American nation failed to make its $503 million payment which was due on Wednesday. It was the nation’s ninth sovereign default, with the country’s Minister of Economy Martín Guzmán claiming that the country will not be “able to make any debt payments in the coming days. At the other end of the spectrum, Bitcoin continued to record gains in popularity and significance. 5. Coinbase Introducing New Price Oracle to Make DeFi Safer
Crypto exchange Coinbase is now stepping up to the plate to try to incubate adoption of DeFi, introducing a new price Oracle that is aimed at making platforms safer while also driving further adoption. Coinbase’s new Oracle, will allow platforms to source pricing data from one of the world’s most liquid exchanges, while also permitting anybody to use its public key to verify the authenticity of the data. 6. BitMEX Announced ETH/USD Futures Settled in Bitcoin
BitMEX is launching an ETH/USD futures contract with up to 50x leverage on 5 May 2020. The first contract (ETHUSDM20) will expire in June. This new product will be the only one of its kind available in the market, and represents significant new trading opportunities on BitMEX. ETHUSD quanto futures have a fixed Bitcoin multiplier regardless of the USD Ethereum price. This allows traders to long or short the ETH/USD exchange rate without ever touching either ETH or USD!
